Why Marr Contracting?
Marr Contracting are world leaders in the design and delivery of heavy lift luffing tower cranes and complex craneage services. Not just cranes and a crew for hire, we’re big thinkers and problem solvers who love a challenge.
As a third-generation family-owned and run Australian business with almost 100 years’ experience working on some of large-scale construction projects in Australia and across the globe, we have a string of firsts to our name and a strong sense of heritage and tradition engrained in what we do. Our culture is built on the foundations of trust, safety, teamwork, and innovation, with a commitment to delivering value to the people, projects, and communities we work with.
Why we need you
This is a newly created role like no other. Reporting to the Business Development Director in the UK, you’ll relish the challenge of finding qualified project opportunities across Australia and the broader APAC region at the earliest stages of concept to ensure we get in on the front foot of a total cranage solution.
Our projects are typically very public/ iconic, so to be involved from the very early stages which this role uncovers and to be ultimately involved in winning these projects would be an outstanding thing to be able to achieve.
Most of the projects that we tender for have a very long gestation period, so it will be important for this role to have the patience and resilience to continue to work closely with the BD Director to bring in and secure the opportunities.
What we would like
We need someone who has the capabilities to assist the Business Development Director to win profitable and sustainable contracts for the business to deliver. You’ll be able to achieve this by systematically gathering, interpreting, and analysing market, customer, project, and competitor information and applying this to sales and bidding strategies.
Your keys to success
- Business development/ analytical experience preferably in the construction industry and ideally with a knowledge of lifting and cranage solutions.
- Ability to analyse data and compile structured reports.
- Tertiary qualifications in Construction Project Management, Business or Commerce with a marketing major/ minor would be highly advantageous.
- Sound knowledge and experience with MS Office and CRM’s (Salesforce).
- Knowledge/ experience in handling pre-qualifications and administration pre-contract.
- Strong skills in English communication, relationship management, organisation, multi-tasking, and time management.
- Current drivers licence to attend client meetings where required.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Ability to work flexible start and finish times to meet virtually with our UK team from time to time (who will also be flexible with you).
We are an equal opportunity employer and believe in diversity, equity, and inclusion and encourage people from all walks of life to join us on our journey.
